A Hibernian Treat!

aaronemilywed46
What a great night at the historic Hibernian Hall! The room was set up beautifully and the guests anxiously awaited the arrival of the guests of honor during the cocktail hour. As soon as the bridal party and bride and groom were announced the dancing started! They were dancing to all the wonderful songs picked out by our bride and groom. We even had a guest singer and guitar player towards the end of the night that really got the crowd going! What a perfect night and we are excited to have been a part of that special day. Congrats once again to the bride and groom.

Gathering for a Party!

100_0481_Small_

PV played a wedding out at the Gatherings of Dorchester (www.gathringsofdorchester.com) for the first time.  It was a great venue for a ceremony and reception!  The ceremony was outside by the pond and the guests moved into the reception hall for the cocktail hour while the bride and groom finished up their pictures.  The wedding party and guests of honor were announced and then the band kicked off the live music.  After a few songs we invited the bride and groom onto the dance floor for their first dance, Into the Mystic by Van Morrison played live by PV.  The next two dances were on the IPOD and then the band took a short break before really starting the dance music for the evening!

The second set started out with a Temptations song and the dance floor was packed until the bride and groom cut the cake and the best man, maid of honor and father of the bride said a few words in their honor!  The third set was a little more rock and roll and the guests were ready to bring it!  They packed the floor once again and partied til the end of the night!  The bride and groom departed with bubbles…what a great night!  Congrats to Mr. and Mrs. Dozier!

Singing at the Farm

photo PV played a wedding this past weekend at a fairly new location in the Mt Pleasant area called Baols Farm (www.boalsfarm.com). What a great venue for a ceremony and reception! A quaint, authentic working farm off of Clements Ferry road provides a great backdrop for a photographic evening. The ceremony took place on site and upon completion, the guests ventured to cocktail hour located opposite of the ceremony. The weather was perfect…not too hot or cold! The band set up under a covered area on the backside of the barn and provided a great area for dancing! The bride and groom shared their first dance followed by the father/daughter and mother/son dances. The food was blessed and the dinner and dancing began! From the start of the music til the end, the guest never left the dance floor. Our last song Happy by Pharrell finished the night on a high note and the bride and groom left in a classic car with a sparkler departure. What a wonderful evening…congrats to the bride and groom!

Beautiful Magnolia

sat nightPV played two weddings this past weekend and the first one was out at Magnolia Plantation! We were set up behind the main house under a tent done beautifully by Katherine Miller and the girls from Yoj Events (www.yojevents.com)! The ceremony was on site and the guest moved to the main house’s veranda for a cocktail hour. After the bride and groom finished with their pictures, they joined the cocktail hour and moved into the tent for dinner. We started with the first dances and a welcome from the father of the bride before Mosaic (www.mosaicedibles.com) served dinner to all the guests. Our first set was a more quiet set while the guests enjoyed their dinner. We took a break for the cake cutting and then started with one long set to finish the night! The crowd must have been energized from dinner because we had both the girls and the guys singing with us on stage! The night ended with everyone on the dance floor before a sparkler departure into the night! What a great evening and thanks to all who made it that way!

Rocking Palmetto Bluff, Bluffton SC

photo 1PV played a wedding this past weekend at Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton, SC. This was our first visit and what a beautiful place to get married. The bride and groom got married in the chapel on the same property and walked across the street to the Inn for their reception.  The guests enjoyed a full service, sit down dinner but the bride and groom kicked off the night by dancing their first dance to Making Memories of Us by Keith Urban played live by PV. Dinner was then served and the band took a break waiting to rock!  photo 2

After dinner they bride shared a dance to I Loved Her First with her father while the groom also danced with his mom to Have I Told You Lately. The dancing started immediately after the first dances and this crowd kept it going for the rest of the night. PV held strong and played one long set so that the party never got a chance to stop! The last song had was STAY as the bride and groom asked their guest to stick around for more drinks and smores by an outdoor fire pit. What a great night with a great group of friends and family!  Congrats to the bride and groom!

River Wedding in Conway

Conway (3)

Conway (1)PV played a great wedding on a beautiful property in Conway, SC right on the river.  The property had a large tent where the band and the dance floor was located and most of the food was on the deck and inside the building.  The band started off with a few songs and then introduced the bride and groom onto the dance floor for their first dance.  They also shared a dance with their parents before dinner was served to everyone!  Conway (2)

With a belly full of delicious food and cake, the guest hit the dance floor showing off their shagging skills. The sun went down and the party kicked into full gear!  We had the WHOLE wedding party on stage with us at one point and we ended the night with hands in the air!  What a great night and a big congrats to the bride and groom!

Gamecock Country!

la308ac44-m0xPV played a wedding this past weekend in the heart of Gamecock Country!  With Williams Brice in the background and tailgating on our mind, we played for familiar faces at the University House.  The Wingard family had us play a party at their beach house on Folly Beach, then hired us for their older daughter’s wedding at the same house…and then named the beach house Permanent Vacation after the band!  How awesome is that!  This was their youngest daughter and it had been a while since we saw everyone which made this event especially exciting.  The bride and groom shared their first dance and then the bride had a dance with her father…after breaking the ice the dance floor opened for the guests.  After delicious BBQ from Greenwood, SC the guests brought their energy to the dance floor and packed it for the rest of the night.  We even got a guest appearance by the father of the bride and some other familiar friends to perform a Swinging Medallions song!  What a great night!  Congrats to the bride and groom and we can not thank you enough for making us a part of the event!

Getting Down at Alhambra Hall

alhambra hall

PV played a wedding at Alhambra Hall for our second of 4 gigs this past Saturday.  The bride and groom got married on site and had their cocktail hour outside as well taking full advantage of the venue and the wonderful weather.  They moved into the hall for their first dances breaking the ice on the dance floor.  Their guests enjoyed delicious food from Hamby’s Catering (www.hambycatering.com) which gave them the energy they needed to pack the dance floor.  The crowd packed the floor more and more as the night moved on and made it tough for us to get them to leave the party for the departure!  We played one more song after our “last” song and the crowd went wild!  What a great night and congrats to the bride and groom as we wish them the best!

Charleston Place here we come!

Charleston place (1)PV played a wedding at the Charleston Place hotel downtown by the market this past weekend.  It had been a while since we played this venue and the people are just as wonderful as they were in the past!  Jessica Smithson is the catering sales manager and wedding specialist for the Charleston Place and she really knows how to make your night perfect! Book your wedding at Charleston Place and you will see what I mean!

Charleston place (2)The event started with a cocktail hour outside the main ballroom and then guests were invited into the main room in preparation for the wedding party.  The wedding party was announced and the event got started with their first dances.  After a welcome, the guests enjoyed the wonderful food from the Charleston Place and then brought their energy to the dance floor.  We played a variety of songs from Motown to Rock and even learned a few songs for the bride and groom, Folsom Prison Blues by Johnny Cash and Give It Away by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

It was indeed a great night and their guests came to party!  At the end of the night the bride and groom departed from the Charleston Place with a sparkler departure!  A wonderful wedding and we wish the best to the newlyweds!

Great Wedding to end a 4 show weekend!

imagesPV played our 4th gig to end a long weekend with a great wedding out at the Ion Creek Club!  What a wonderful place for a wedding and the bride and groom took full advantage of the property by having the ceremony on site out by the water.  Perfect weather for an outdoor ceremony and it must have helped to put the guests in a great mood because they brought that energy to the dance floor.  After the first dances the food stations opened but so did the dance floor.  The guests packed the dance floor from song one til the end of the night.  The bride and groom left happily married to a sparkler departure!  What a great ending to a wonderful weekend!  Congrats to Mr. and Mrs. Kline!

Blessing of the Fleet!

Blessing of the Fleet 2014

It was a long hiatus but PV was fortunate enough to rock the Blessing of the Fleet once again this year with the East Coast Party Band.  PV played 2 sets with a break in between for the actual Blessing of the shrimp boats for the new season.  The Town of Mt Pleasant always does a GREAT job with this event and we can not thank them enough for having us play for the their residents!  Hopefully we will see you all again next year!

Rocking for a Good Cause

DIPV had the pleasure of playing the 2nd annual Golf Ball Gala for East Cooper Community Outreach at the Daniel Island Country Club. This is also the second year for us which is truly an honor. This year they decided to have a silent and live auction and hired our good friend Tom Crawford to MC for the evening! He is one of only a few people in the nation designated specifically for silent and live charity auctions.

di2

The band started off with light music while the guests were mingling and making sure they were at the top of their silent auction lists. With the help of Tom, we made sure that everyone knew when the items were closing to ensure they had a good chance of winning their item! After the silent auction was complete Tom and his help took over the event and started the live auction portion of the evening.

di3With all the great items and a great MC, they all went for top dollar for a great cause. After all the guests pockets were empty, they joined us on the dance floor for the rest of the night! What a great party for an excellent cause! Thanks for all who donated their time and money to ECCO!

Singing on the Inlet!

photo 1photo 2PV played a wedding this past weekend at Sunnyside Plantation in Murrell’s Inlet, SC. What a beautiful location for a wedding, both ceremony and reception! The venue is located right on the inlet with beautiful marsh views. The band was set up on a stage under a tent overlooking the water. The guests enjoyed the ceremony which started at 6:00 and then moved to the tent for a cocktail hour while the wedding party took advantage of the setting sun for some wonderful pictures!

PV announced the whole wedding party into the reception and invited the bride and groom to the dance floor for their first dance together as a married couple. They rehearsed a dance so we play their dance on the IPOD. The father daughter dance was also on the IPOD and we played the mother son dance live, Be Young Be Foolish by the Tams! The bride also surprised her brother with a dance and picked a great song…Stand By Me by Ben E King played live by Permanent Vacation. Those dances kicked off the dancing for the rest of the night. The guest enjoyed great food from Inlet Affairs (www.inletaffairs.com) and brought that energy to the dance floor the whole night. The bride and groom cut the cake and had a few toasts during our first and only break and then packed the floor for the remainder of the night. The bride and groom took a golf cart into the night after jumping, shouting and celebrating to end the night. Thanks for a great trip and congrats to Mr and Mrs Hagan!

Beautiful Botanical Belmont

photoPV took a road trip this past weekend to play a wedding at the Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens in Belmont, NC (www.dsbg.com).  What a beautiful place to get married…and speaking of beautiful, we got to work with our friends from The Beautiful Mess (www.thebeautifulmess.com) photography again which was a treat.  We first met them at a wedding in Pinehurst and it was great to see a familiar face.  The ceremony, cocktail hour and reception were all on the grounds at the botanical gardens, but all in different locations.  The ceremony kicked off at 6 with a cocktail hour afterwards.  We announced our guests of honor around 7:25 and the went straight into their first dance.  After the dance the father of the bride gave a welcome and the pastor blessed the meal.  The guests enjoyed a sit down dinner while PV played some quiet dinner music.  The band took a break for the cake cutting and then started back with a 2 hour, dance set.  The crowd brought the sugar buzz from the cake to the dance floor and stayed packed until the last song.  The bride and groom departed with a sparkler departure.  What a great road trip and we wish the best to the bride and groom!

Carriage House at Magnolia Plantation!

photo 2photo 3

Magnolia Plantation is a beautiful place to get married and the weather cooperated allowing for a perfect day.  The ceremony was on the lawn outside the carriage house along with a cocktail hour on the patio to follow.  The bride and groom took advantage of the picturesque landscape at Magnolia during the cocktail hour and made their grand entrance around 6:00.

Their first dance was Fly Me to the Moon by Frank Sinatra played live by PV.  The bride then shared a dance with her father to Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison played live by PV followed by the groom and his mom to What a Wonderful World by Louie Armstrong, played live by PV.  After that the food stations opened and the hungry guests flocked to the delicious food from Graze!  The band took their first break for the cake cutting but kicked the second set off with a bang bringing all the guests to the floor.  From that point on the Carriage House was rocking!  The bride and groom danced to the final song, fist pumping away which was appropriate considering they were moving to New Jersey!  With a sparkler departure the guest sent the newlyweds into the night!  Congrats to the bride and groom and we wish you the best!

Citadel Beach House Spring Fever!

photo 1What a beautiful spring like day, perfect for reception at the Citadel Beach house.  The bride and groom took advantage of the beach-front lawn outside for the ceremony and then moved inside for the reception.  PV kicked off the music at 6:00 awaiting the announcement of the bride and groom!  After some wonderful sunset pictures with Nuvo Images (www.nuvoimages.com), who always do great work  and can even set up a slide show with pictures from the same day, the bride and groom shared their first dance to Island in the Sun by Weezer played live by PV…a very appropriate song since we were on Isle of Palms, SC!  The food stations opened and Cru Catering (www.crucatering.com) took care of the hungry guests.  With a full stomach, the dancers jumped on the floor ready to burn some calories.  After a short break, the bride and groom shared their first dances with their respective parents and the dancing began for the rest of the night.  Shout was the last song and had the guests jumping and shouting to the bride and groom!  What a great night and we wish the newlyweds the best of luck!

MUSC Homecoming at the Gibbes Art Museum!

MUSC (1)

The band played a wonderful homecoming event for MUSC at the Gibbes Art Museum!  The event started in the museum with passed hors d’oeuvres and drinks and then moved to the courtyard for dinner and dancing.  The band kicked off the night at 7 starting with some old-time favorites then moving into good southern fried beach music.  This got the crowd on the dance floor and this trend continued throughout the night.  Second set kicked out with a little more Motown and Beach music but then turned funky to end the party.  Thanks to all the wonderful people who put this event on for the university and we were honored to be a part of it!

Small road trip to DeBordieu!

full viewmorrow saxpaulyWhat a great place to get married!  We have played here a few times in the past, both outside and inside, and it really is a wonderful place all around.  Kelly and her staff are wonderful and really do their best to make a client’s day perfect!  www.debordieuclub.com  This was no exception!  The bride and groom got married in the foyer area of the club and then had their cocktail hour in the ballroom for the guests while they took full advantage of the wonderful beauty of the club.  They hired a wonderful photographer Brooke Christl Photography (www.brookechristl.com – these are actually her wonderful pictures of the band) who was there to ensure that their pictures were perfect!  After the sun started to set, the bride and groom were announced into the ballroom with the rest of the wedding party and shared their first dance as newlyweds.  After the dance the father of the bride welcome the guests and their minister blessed the meal…dinner was served!

The guest enjoyed a great spread from the club and after dinner they handed the night over to PV!  We started with the father/daughter and mother/groom dances which broke the ice on the dance floor.  The crowd jumped on the dance floor from the first song all the way til the end of the night!  They cut the cake at the first break and did the bouquet and garter right before we went on for our final set.  The last songs were Shout and Get Lucky by Daft Punk!  We left all we had on the stage and the guests did the same on the dance floor.  After a bubble departure the bride and groom drove away into the night!  Congrats to the bride and groom, Mr. and Mrs. Gibson!

First Wedding of the Year!

banddavid x 2Our first wedding of the season was at the historic Hibernian Hall, downtown Charleston.  What a great way to kick off the year!  The bride and groom got married at the Citadel’s Summeral Chapel and then made their way to the reception.  The guests were welcomed with a cocktail hour and PV started up the music upon their arrival as well.

The bride and groom joined the reception, had a few cocktails and were then announced to their first dance.  The band went out on a limb and learned Midnight Train to Georgia by Gladys Knight song for the first dance.  It went over well and the crowd cheered for the bride and groom!  The father daughter song was The Way You Look Tonight by Frank Sinatra and the mother son song was Stand By Me by Ben E King, both played live by Permanent Vacation.  The food stations and the dance floor opened after a welcome from the father of the bride and a blessing by the brother of the groom.  The group came out with their shagging shoes on, burning the dance floor from the first song. The photographer was Michel Berda at www.kingstreetphotoweddings.com.

The last set turned it up a bit and brought the house down with a mix of Earth Wind and Fire to the Black Eyed Peas to The Isley Brothers!   We finished up but were brought back on stage as the crowd chanted “One more”.  Daft Punk’s Lucky finished up the evening and the bride and groom were ushered into the night with a bubble departure!  Congrats Mr and Mrs Tyler Chaplin!

We love Charleston Rigging!

photo

We have been lucky enough to play our first show in the new year over the past few years with Charleston Rigging!  They are a great, local Charleston company that puts on a wonderful holiday party for their staff and customers celebrating the previous year and kicking off the new one.  They invited us to play a few years ago and has been kind enough to invite us back each year.  What a great party with oysters, gumbo and drinks!  This party is a great one and this year was no exception.  Thanks again for having us and we look forward to celebrating with you again next year!

Last Wedding of 2013

photo 1photo 4

We played our final wedding of 2013 this past weekend at the Daniel Island Club.  What a great venue to end the 2013 season!  The bride and groom got married off site and then invited their guests back to the beautiful Daniel Island clubhouse.  They held the cocktail hour in the lobby area outside of the main ballroom and asked the guest to come into the ballroom right before the announcement of our guests of honor.  The band announced the wedding party and then the newlyweds following right up with the first dances.  The bride’s father invited her on the dance floor afterwards and then the groom his mother.  After the official first dances the dance floor was open as well as the food stations.  The guests were in the Christmas spirit and jumped right on the floor to shake their stuff.  We even sprinkled in a few Christmas songs per the request of the bride and groom!

The dance floor stayed packed the whole night no matter what song we played…from Country to Hip-hop to Beach.  Burgers were served as a late night snack and the bride and groom left with a sparkler departure in the front of the clubhouse!  What a great party to close out our 2013 wedding!  One more show left in 2013 and we will be ringing in 2014!  Congrats to the bride and  groom.

Getting in the Holiday Spirit!

rice mill

PV played a holiday party this past weekend for MUSC at the Rice Mill downtown Charleston (www.holycityhospitality.com/historic-rice-mill/).  What a great place for a party!  If you have yet to see this venue you need to take the trip downtown to check it out.  The party started a 6:00 and the band kicked off shortly after 6:00.  We started light and even played a few holiday favorites before kicking the party up a notch towards the end of the night.  The ladies packed the floor and a few smart men joined them breaking it down!   What a great night and a big thank you to our friend Beth Whitaker who recommended us for the show!

Santa Claus is Coming to Town

santa at the wing

He is not just coming to town but coming to the Wild Wing Café!  PV played the annual Mt Pleasant After the Christmas Parade party at the Wild Wing Café on Coleman Boulevard.  This is a gig we play and look forward to each year.  The beautiful Mt Pleasant Christmas parade goes down Coleman Blvd at dusk and as soon as Santa goes by the wing, we kick up the tunes inside the wing.  What a great party and a big thanks to everyone that came out to hear the party and kick off the holiday season.  We even had a guest appearance of Saint Nick himself on guitar for the first set!  Happy holidays to all and to all a rockin night!

Wedding at Harborside East

photo 1PV played a wedding this past weekend at the Rice Mill in Mount Pleasant at the Motley Rice building.  This is a great location to get married because you can have the ceremony and the reception at the same site.  Another good thing is that even if rain invades your big day, you can move the ceremony onto the covering and still have a beautiful ceremony.  This is exactly what happened in this case and everything was still perfect.

The bride and groom tied the knot outside and then kicked off the cocktail hour immediately after the ceremony.  After some great pictures with Nathan Bell of Richard Bell Photography and his wonderful crew (www.charlestonwedding.com), the bride and groom moved into the Rice Mill for their first dances.

photo 2

After the dances the food stations opened as well as the dance floor.  The guests shined up their shagging shoes and joined us from the start.  As the night moved on the dancing continued and the party really got going!  What a great night and a great group of friends and family celebrating with the bride and groom.  Congrats again to the happy couple and thanks for having PV!

Road Trip to beautiful Belfair Country Club!

ceremonyPV was on the road this past weekend heading down to Bluffton, SC to play a wedding at the Belfair Country Club (www.belfair1811.com).  It was a beautiful golf club located right on the marsh with amazing views.  The ceremony was at the same location as well and who can blame you with those views!   They bride and groom hired Megan Finn with Phoenix Feather Photography (www.phoenixfeatherphotography.com) to commemorate the night and she did a wonderful job!

The ceremony was done at 5:00 and the guests started towards the clubhouse for the cocktail hour.  The band started up around 6:00 with the first dances, all played live by PV.  The bride and groom danced to Zac Brown’s Whatever It Is, the father daughter dance was to My Girl by the Temptations and the groom and his mother shared their first dance to Simple Man by Lynard Skynyrd.  live

The food stations opened after the dances but that did not stop the men from bringing their ladies out onto the dance floor, including the groom and his new bride!  After the cake cutting and a few toasts the band kicked off the second set and dancers of all ages packed the floor.  The band took one more break but kept the party going with a few dance songs on the IPOD.  The third set was great and the crowd danced the whole time!  What a great party and we were honored to be a part of the big day.  Congrats to Mr and Mrs Bailey!  We wish you the best!

Thank you for coming out!

wild wing (1)

Just wanted to say thanks to all our friend that came out to hear the band this past Friday night at the Wild Wing Café!  It was a great show and we are now looking forward to the next show at the same Wild Wing Dec 8th after the Mt Pleasant Christmas parade!  Hope to see you all there wearing your Holiday best!

Attending a Wedding?

leigh and jim

A few of the members of the band actually got to attend a wedding on Sunday as guests!  Ha-ha!  That never happens.  It was a beautiful wedding for a beautiful bride and we were excited to be in the audience for such a wonderful night.  Congratulations to Leigh and Jim!

Beautiful View at Cypress Gardens

photo 1PV played a wedding this past weekend at Cypress Trees Plantation on Edisto Island, SC (www.cypresstreesplantation.com).  This is one of the most beautiful locations for a ceremony and reception.  The marsh surrounds you every where you look and provide a wonderful backdrop for that special day.  The bride and groom had the ceremony set up facing the marsh and invited our favorite singing group, The Plantation Singers (www.plantationsingers.com), the provide a wonder ceremony sound.  They also continued to sing for the cocktail hour while the bridal, groom and the rest of the bridal party took advantage of a setting sun.  Joshua Aaron photography (www.joshuaaaronphotography.com), and husband and wife team, was on site to capture all the memories!  Cant wait to see the wonderful shots they got with the bride and groom!  photo 2

After the pictures were complete we announced the wedding party into the reception and invited the bride and groom to the dance floor for their first dance.  The bride and her father followed and then the groom and his mother.  PV kicked off the first set once the official dances were done and opened up the dance floor to everyone.  We knew it was going to be a good night when the dance floor was packed with our first note.  Our first break allowed for the cake cutting and some great toasts and then it was time to dance!

bandWe played a mix of shag and rock in the second set getting the crowd involved with some sing along songs and then took a short break before cranking it up.  The third set was all over the spectrum with country, funk, rock and many more.  The party was rocking and there was no room left on the dance floor for the whole set.  What a great celebration!  The crowded was literally shouting and jumping for the bride before we sent them off with a bubbly departure.

Big “Thank You” to Neville Curtis for stepping in on the drums!  If you ever need a drummer, we have your man!

Still Rocking a year later!

photo 2PV played an anniversary party for a great couple we married just a year ago, Holly and Chad Dennis.  Chad was in a car accident last year on the night of the rehearsal dinner and was confined to a hotel room while everyone else was at the reception.  His mother decided to throw them an anniversary party this year in honor of the couple.  Wild Dunes was the host for the event and what a beautiful location for a party.  They started at 6:00 with cocktails and then stations for dinner around 7:00.  After food and drinks the dance floor was packed until we shut it down at 10:00, stupid noise ordinance!  Ha!  Everyone had a blast celebrating and the groom was able to have his official first dance with his wife which was long-awaited!  Congrats to the couple and we wish you a continued strong marriage and call us for the 5 year party!

The Rice Mill Rocks

photoPV played a wedding this weekend and one of our favorite venues, The Rice Mill (http://www.goodfoodcatering.net/rice_mill.html)!   They are located at the downtown city marina and offer great food, great views and a wonderful atmosphere.  What I personally like about this venue is the package deal that they offer.  Good Food Catering is the exclusive caterer for this site and they know how to “wow” a bride and groom with presentation and even better taste!  It is always a treat when we get to dine with the Good Food folks!

The bride and groom got married off site and made their way to the venue after the ceremony.  They entered the Rice Mill only announcing the bride and groom but dancing in with the whole wedding party.  From that point they went directing into their first dance which was Crusin by Smokey Robinson, played live by PV.  We learned this song just for the bride and groom!  The father daughter dance followed to Patsy Cline’s Crazy, playing live by PV but sung by a friend of the bride, Amber Ludeman.  What a beautiful voice and the band learned this special song for the bride and groom as well.  Last but not least, the groom shared a dance with his mother to Your Song by Elton John played live by PV.  All of these wonderful moments were caught on camera by the wonderful photographers with Paige Winn Photography (www.paigewinnphoto.com).  Paige and her crew were on top of it all night and shot some wonderful pictures for the bride and groom.

The guests ate first but then came in a swarm for the second set and stayed on the dance floor for a straight hour and a half.  We ended the night with Wagon Wheel before sending the newlyweds into the night as a married couple!  Congrats to our friends Sarah and Daniel and we wish you the best!

Dancin in the Grass

band wholeThe band was at Magnolia Plantation this past weekend playing under a tent at the back of the main house.  The bride and groom got married on site as well at the White Bridge and then made their way towards the house.  The caterer was Steven Duvall (http://duvallevents.com) and they were posted up on the deck for their food stations.  The food was great with a range of different items for their guests from lamb to shrimp!  drums

The bride and groom shared their first dance to kick off the dancing and pulled in their parents as well.  As the sun went down the guests piled onto the dance floor and stayed parked til the very end of the night.  As a matter of fact, the guests were entertained with 2 acapella songs from a family member before a sparkler send off.

What a great night and congrats to the bride and groom!

Early Party at the Elks Club

photoWe played a wedding this past weekend at the Elks Club in West Ashley.  It has been a long time since we played the Elks Club and it was nice to return.  They have a nice size room and an even better stage!  The bride and groom had the actual ceremony on Folly Beach and then everyone headed to the club for the reception.  The band started playing at 5:00 kicking it off with the bride and grooms first dance to Dock of the Bay by Otis Redding, played live by PV.  The bride followed dancing with her father to Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton, played live by PV and then the groom shared a dance with his mom to How Sweet It Is by James Taylor, played live by PV.  After that the food stations opened and the band started rocking.  The dance floor was packed starting towards the end of the first set and continued into the second set as well.  As a matter of fact, we ended up playing 30 minutes of overtime because the crowd was having a blast!  The bride and groom took a black cab into the night with the crowd cheering!  Congrats to the bride and groom!

Heading to Hilton Head!

photo 2PV played a wedding this past weekend at the Port Royal Golf Club at Hilton Head Island, SC. What a great place for a wedding and reception. The bride and groom were able to take advantage of the great lawn located behind the clubhouse for the ceremony. We provided ceremony sound with a mic for the officant and the readers to ensure that everyone heard the ceremony (www.charlestonweddingsound.com). Good thing too because it was the groom’s father marrying the couple. What a great way to start off a memorable evening. The bride and groom moved their guests from the ceremony area to the back porch for the cocktail hour while they took advantage of the perfect scenery Port Royal had to offer. Perfect scenery, perfect couple…all they needed was the perfect photographer. No issues as they hired Michael Paul Edde with Beacon Photo (www.beaconphoto.com). This was our first time working with Michael and hopefully not the last. PV kicked off the music during the cocktail hour and as soon as the bride and groom were done with their pictures, everyone moved inside for dinner but not before the bride and groom shared their first dance to You Are The Best Thing by Ray Lamontague, played live by PV. It was a beautiful seated dinner planned well by the Port Royal Golf Club staff and my favorite wedding planner in the whole wide world, Ashley Ruthsatz (might be a little biased since she is my wife)! After dinner the father of the thanked everyone and then asked his daughter to dance. PV learned Unforgettable by Nat King Cole for the dance and the groom followed with his mother to Just the Way you Are by Billy Joel, played live by PV. The dance floor was officially opened at that point and it was packed from that point til the end of the night. PV played one long set because we did not want to stop the party! What a great night! We played Take Me Home Tonight as the last tune and the bride and groom exited the club out the front to a sparkler departure. Thanks for a great road trip and congrats to the bride and groom and family!

Celebrating at the Creek Club

imageWe played a wedding this past weekend at the Creek Club in Ion and it was a wonderful night on the creek.  The weather was extremely cooperative and as the sun was shining but it was not terribly hot.  The bride and groom got married off site and made the trip to the creek club after the ceremony.

image (1)The guests were greeted at the club by the Plantation Singers (www.plantationsingers.com) singing outside for the cocktail hour.  This is the second time in a few weeks getting to work with the Plantation Singers.  That is always a treat!  The bride and groom arrived a little after the guests and we announced the wedding party and the newlyweds into the reception.  The bride and groom shared their first dance followed by the bride and her father and finally the groom and his mother.  After the dances the food stations opened and the guests enjoyed a wonderful Southern style dinner.  The food must have given them energy because they were dancing the whole night.

photoThe night seemed to fly by…always does when you are having a good time.  The bride, groom and the rest of the guests were literally jumping and shouting during Shout and we closed the night with our rendition of Old Crow’s Wagon Wheel.  The bride and groom left with a sparkler departure right outside the creek club.  What a great night on the creek!  Congrats Mr. and Mrs. Morris!

Home town Alhambra!

bandPV played a great wedding this past weekend at Alhambra Hall for a local Mt Pleasant bride who now lives in DC where she meet her groom.  They were a great couple and it was wonderful to get to know them both during the planning.  They got married at the Summerall Chapel downtown Charleston and they hopped on a trolley bound for Alhambra.  We announced the wedding party and the bride and groom were welcomed by a roaring crowd where they met on the dance floor for their first dance.  The danced to the Luckiest by Ben Folds (great song!) played on the IPOD.  The bride then shared a dance with her father and the groom with his mother.  After their dances the food stations opened as well as the dance floor.  The dance floor got more and more packed as the night went on and I think they had to move some tables at the end of the night to make room for all the people.  That is always a good problem to have…especially for the band!  🙂  The brides brother plays with a local band, Fowlers Mustache, and he joined us for about 4 songs as well which was a blast.  We played Friends in Low Places for the last song as a tribute to their friends and family.  What a great night and we wish them both the best!

Check out the testimonial page to see what the bride and groom AND bride’s parents had to say about the band!

Uncle Sam Jam 2013

20130704-IMG_4613PV played the Uncle Sam Jam for the Charleston County Parks at the end of the pier in Mt Pleasant.  This is the third year in a row and it was once again a blast (pun intended)!  The gates opened at 7:00 and the guests started to file in to get the best seat to see the band and the fireworks.  PV started at 8:00 and played our first set until the first firework went off from the Yorktown at about 9:25.

20130704-IMG_4665The firework show seemed a little shorter than in the year’s past, but that was OK because it meant more music for us!  Our great friend and fantastic wedding photographer Rod Pasibe (www.redshutterstudio.com) was hanging with the band and nice enough to take some pictures (attached to this post).  We played until 11:00 and the crowd danced til 11:00 as well.  What a great night and a big THANK YOU goes out to Melissa and her crew with the Charleston County Parks.  They did a great job as always!  Happy 4th everyone!

If this dock’s a rockin, then its PV

plantation singersWe played a wedding at the Cotton Docks out at Boone Hall this past weekend.  It is always a great location but an even better location when the couple pays to have an AC unit installed for the night!  The ceremony was offsite but they had a cocktail hour on site for the guests from 4:00-5:00.  During the cocktail hour the bride and groom hired our good friend Lynette White and the rest of the Plantation Singers for the entertainment (www.plantationsingers.com).  They are wonderful and that was even a treat for us!  We announced the bride and groom into the reception at 5:15 with the help of the Plantation Singers and the father of the bride gave a little welcome to the guests.  After his welcome/toast the father blessed the food and the guests started the wonderful dinner provided by Good Food Catering.  After dinner they kicked off the dancing portion of the evening with the first dances at 6:45.  The bride and groom danced to Eric Clapton’s Wonderful Tonight played live by PV.  The father daughter and the mother son were both on the Ipod and then the dance floor was open.  They immediately joined us and pretty much stayed there the rest of the night.  The bride’s family have a rich Polish background so they were ready and willing to dance.  We even had a good many polkas on the IPOD so that when we took a break, the dancing did not!  The bride and groom ended their night with the Polish Bridal Dance and then left the docks in the family vintage Ford truck.  After they left we actually played a few more songs for the rest of the guests!  What a great night.  Congrats to the bride and groom!

Perfect at Patriots!

photo 3PV played a wedding this past weekend at Patriots Point and the weather could not have been better.  The sun was shining and I actually think it was a 0% chance of rain.  Amazing!  Needless to say, with perfect weather the reception was off to a great start.  The bride and groom got married earlier in the day off site and then made their way to the reception at 5:30 for a cocktail hour and pictures.  Paula Player Photography was on capturing all the memories (www.paulaplayer.com)

imageThe music portion of the reception kicked off with the first dances:  bride and groom, father/daughter, mother/groom and a nice tribute to the grandparents that could not be at the celebration.

After a welcome and blessing the food was served and the dancing began!

The dancers came out with the start of the first song and keep going til the end of the night.  As a matter of fact, they hired us for a little overtime to keep the party going!  We threw in some new songs we recently added to our list: Love Shack, Celebration, Get Down On It and the crowd loved it.  A hip hop medley ended the night with the Black Eyed Peas and Taio Cruz brought the house down and the bride and groom escaped on a golf cart.  What a perfect night.

ECCO rocks!

imageWe played a great event for a great cause last night at the Daniel Island Country Club for East Cooper Community Outreach.  The had a celebrity cook off between some wonderful chefs, great food and great drinks.  A lot of wonderful people came together to make this event wonderful. You should make sure to check out and support ECCO and don’t miss this event next year when it comes around!

A dry wedding, in a good way!

imagePV played a wedding this past weekend and it was finally a dry one…not in alcohol, but literally not a wet reception.  We were indoors at the historic Alhambra Hall in Mount Pleasant with no chance on rain getting us this weekend!  The bride and groom had the ceremony on out the lawn but again, no rain.  After a couple of wet events this was a true blessing.  Just ask the planner, Lizz with Southern Protocol.  She too was a part of the really wet venue just a few weekends prior.  As always, Lizz and her crew (www.southernprotocol.com) were magnificent.

imageThe band started up by playing the cocktail hour and took a short break right before announcing the start of the party.  The father of the bride welcomed everyone, they cut the cake and then they moved into their first dances.  They shared their dance to the Willie Nelson version of What a Wonderful World on the IPOD.  The bride then danced with her father to My Girl by the Temptations playing live by PV followed by the groom and his step-mom dancing to You Are The Sunshine by Stevie Wonder played live by PV.  There were some great photos taken by Jenn Bearden (www.jenniferbearden.com) as always.  If you need a good photographer check out her site!  The party kicked into high gear from that point til the end of the night.  At one point I think we must have had 16 people on stage with us dancing!  What a great crowd!  We ended the night with the groom on his back kicking his legs in the air and the crowd cheering him on the whole way.

Congrats again to the bride and groom and thanks for having us at the reception!

I love a rainy night!

imageThe second wedding of the weekend was a wet one.  It rained pretty much all the way up until the bride and groom were married under the tent; however, that did not stop the guests from having a blast.  The wedding planners from Breeze (www.breezesc.com) were on top of the event doing their best to make everything as perfect as possible with all the water.  The rained stopped so the couple could take advantage of the beautiful Legare Waring House and once they were done we announced the wedding party into the reception while the band played Walk This Way live!  As soon as we announced our guests of honor they jumped right into their first dance song, Frank Sinatra’s The Way You Look Tonight played live by PV.image

After a wonderful welcome from the father of the bride, the party started and the dance floor was packed for the rest of the night.  They had a great photographer on board, Lauren Jonas with Charleston Wedding Photography (www.charlestonweddingphotography.com).  As a matter of fact, these are her pictures that she so generously let us use on our site.  The bride and groom shared a dance with their parents after our first set and stayed on the dance floor for most of the evening.

They ended the night jumping and shouting and the guests sent them into the night as newlyweds.  Congrats!

Bridge side views!

The first weekend in May was a busy one indeed.  This was the first of two weddings this weekend and a great way to kick it off.  We were back at Harborside East, also known as 28 Bridgeside in the past.  As a matter of fact, we played a wedding for our sound man Kevin Saunders at this same location.  The bride and groom took advantage of the wonderful site and had the ceremony on site overlooking the Charleston Harbor.  What a view!  After the ceremony the guests enjoyed a cocktail hour while the bride and groom finished up some great photo ops.  PV introduced them into the reception and they moved right into their first dances for the evening.  After that the stations open and the party was officially underway.  The guests were dancing all the way up until the last song and they ushered the bride and groom into the night with a rose petal departure.  What a great evening with friends!  Congrats to the bride and groom!

FORE, north of the border

imagePV played a wedding this past weekend at the beautiful Forest Creek Golf Club in Pinehurst, NC. It was about a 3 1/2 to 4 hour drive and well worth the trip to party with the bride and groom. We rented a van for the weekend and packed 5 out of the 6 members in one car and started our journey. It was an easy trip and after we checked into the hotel we went to the club to prepare for the show. What a magnificent place and the staff was extremely nice as well. The ceremony was off site but the bride and groom made sure that they were back at the golf course to get some great pics.

imageAfter cocktail hour they were piped into the ballroom and went right into their first dance. The father of the bride then gave a welcome followed by a toast from the brother of the bride. The blessing was the last thing before the guests started dinner and PV kicked off the first set. We kept it tame for the first set while they were eating but we knew it was going to be a good reception when we had guests dancing right from the rip. The band took a break to allow the guest to enjoy the end of dinner and rest up for the dancing part of the evening.

imageWe kicked the second set off with the father of the bride sharing a dance with his daughter and then the groom and his mother. After that, the dance floor was open and packed! We took one more short break and played a few song on the IPOD per the bride’s request and then back on for the final set. We finished up the night with Shout by request from the crowd! What a great night in NC and we are hoping to come back to the club. Congrats to Mr and Mrs Matthew Schall!  And thanks to the photographers for the wonderful pics (www.thebeautifulmess.com).  What a great job!

A Plantation Wedding

photoPV played the Carriage House this weekend at beautiful Magnolia Plantation.  We thought rain was in the forecast but it turned out to be a rain free evening perfect for a wedding.  The bride and groom had the ceremony right outside the carriage house and then invited the guests inside for some cocktails while they finished up their pictures.  When they were done they were announced into the reception and shared their first dance to Then by Brad Paisley played live by PV.  After that dance the party started and the dance floor was packed for the rest of the night.  We only took one break and that is when the bride and groom cut the cake and had their toasts.  The final set had country, funk, hip hop, rock and other varieties as the bride and groom picked great songs.  The last song of the night was Forget You and the crowd went crazy.  The bride and groom left that night with a sparkler departure a happily married couple!

A Wet William Aiken House

S1081771000702PV played a wedding this past weekend on a rainy Friday night in Charleston.  The ceremony and reception were both on site at the William Aiken House and the rain held off for the outdoor ceremony which was great.  After the ceremony was over the bride and groom went for more pictures as the guest enjoyed a cocktail hour with PV playing live for the guests.  After the bride and groom were finished with the pictures the groom welcomed the guests and then they all went inside for dinner.  This was when the bottom dropped out and the rain started pouring downtown Charleston.  It was good to give us some time to prepare while we were breaking during their dinner because this was an intense rain.  After  dinner the rain was still coming down but there was a small spot of the dance floor that was dry and it was a perfect spot for a first dance.  The bride and groom danced to Crazy Love by Van Morrison played live by PV and then the father of the bride took over and shared a dance with his daughter to My Girl by The Temptations played live by PV.  The groom invited his mom up next as they danced to Van Morrison’s Into the Mystic played live by PV.  After that the party started and the rain continued to come down.  I have to give HUGE shout out to Lizz Ackerman from Southern Protocol who was the wedding planner that evening (www.southernprotocol.com).  She went over and above and was doing all she could to keep the water away from the dance floor.  She used sandbags, sqeegies and about anything else she could get her hands on to push the water away.  She did a great job for her clients as always!  She rained stopped at the end of the night allowing for a sparkler departure to the after party next door at Fish.  A very interesting night but a another happy couple was married and we had a blast.  A wet blast but a blast!  HaHa!  Congrats to the bride and groom!

Here comes wedding season!

imagePV played a wedding this past weekend and it is the start of many to come this season.  Great way to kick off the season at the Country Club of Charleston.  Dave and the staff are always great to work with and make it a great night.  The bride and groom had the wedding party enter the reception first while the band played Hot Hot Hot live!  They danced around and started a conga line with the guests.  The band got quiet and then announced the guests of honor into the reception.  They danced around with the guests as well and then went into their first dance.  They danced to Sway by Michael Buble on the IPod because they had a routine they learned just for this dance.  The bride shared a dance with her father next that started off slow with about a minute of Have I Told You Lately and we to went into Brown Eyed Girl. The groom and his mom were up next and shared a dance to Just The Way You Are by Billy Joel, played live by PV.  After that the food stations opened as well as the dance floor and everyone danced until the last songs.  PV played Shout and then went right into Born To Be Wild before sending the bride and groom off with a sparkler departure.  What a great night…congrats to the bride and groom.

Building castles in the sand

imagePV played a wedding for the first time out at the Sandcastle on Kiawah Island. We have played many times out at Kiawah but never the Sandcastle. What a wonderful place to get married and turns out a friend in the biz runs the show. The bride and groom had the ceremony out on the beach and even though the weather was not the best, the sun came out in full force for the ceremony and made for some great pics. Erin Sage was the photographer so rest assured they will be great.  As a matter of fact, the pictures attached were taken that night by Erin!  www.erinsagephotography.com  They moved the reception into the ballroom and kicked off the dancing with their first dance, You and Me by Dave Matthews. The father daughter and mother son dances followed and then the party started. Everyone was dancing all night, as a matter of fact, they hired the band for an additional hour at the end of the night. What a great party! Congrats to Mrs and Mrs Schwade!!image2-1024x344

Anyone for Tea?

imageimageWe played our first wedding at the Charleston tea plantation. The ceremony and reception was at the same location. What a beautiful place to get married. Ceremony was by a large oak tree and then the reception was under a tent. We kicked off the first dances and the crowd never left the dance floor from that point on for the rest of the night. Congratulations to the bride and groom and we look forward to our next trip to the tea plantation.

MUSC Charity Ball

imageWe were fortunate enough to play this great show again in 2013.  This has to be the 6th year in a row and we are so thankful.  This year they had many different charities involved and the crowd was in full force.  The band play house music the first hour and then kick it off at 8 o’clock. But from the start the people were dancing. At the first break all the charities got up and announced their cause.  What a great moment. The dance floor was packed for the rest of the night.  Thanks again and we can’t wait til next year!

Oysters and Hot Dogs for Everyone

imageimagePV played the annual holiday party for Charleston Rigging again this year.  We would like to thank them for having us for the 4th year in a row for this great event!  We always look forward to this event and it did not let down again this year.  A ton of dancing and raffles and even a guest guitar and singer for a P-Funk song!  Oyster roast, frogmore stew, hotdogs and of course a beer truck.  What could be better!  We look forward to playing this again next year and it was a great way to start off the new year!

First Wedding of 2013 Columbia Bound!

imageimagePV played the first wedding of the year and it was actually out of town in Columbia, SC.  This was our first time playing at this location…The Hall at Senate’s End.  It is a great place for a reception and the bride and groom did a great job setting this place up.  They had the ceremony off site and the guests started to arrive soon after the ceremony.  Once the bride and groom were announced they asked all the guest to have a seat to prepare for dinner.  It was a stationed dinner but the tables took turns visiting the stations. PV played while the guests were eating but that did not stop them from dancing.  They were on the floor the whole night!  What a great group of family and friends and a great way to kick off the year!  Congrats to Mr and Mrs Michael Greene!

Happy New Year!!!

NYE website

PV played a NYE celebration at the Omar Shrine Temple in Mount Pleasant with the East Coast Party Band and special guest Donnie Weaver formerly of the O’Kaysions.  The event started at 8 and PV kicked off the evening at 8:30.  The crowd was the perfect size and they all packed the dance floor the whole night.  We played til about 11 and then there was a short break in the music as the East Coast Party Band got ready to ring in the new year.  They were on at about 11:20 and played a few songs before inviting Donnie Weaver onto the stage to perform.  He sang a few songs, including the ever famous number one hit Girl Watcher.  They did a countdown for 2013 and then brought the house down til 1 am.  What a great event and thank you to all that attended.  I am hoping that we will do the event again this year and I will make sure to keep you all posted if that is the case.  Thanks to everyone for a great 2012 and we can not wait to see what 2013 brings for us all!  HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Last Wedding of 2012

Dec 30th wedding

Our last wedding for the year was at the Sand Dunes Club on Sullivan’s Island.  The bride and groom had the ceremony in May but due to some other events in their life at the time they were just now having the party.  It had the same happy feeling of a wedding but there were no first dances or bouquet and garter…just an old fashion, rocking celebration.  The food stations were open as soon as the guests started to arrive on site.  The band had music on the IPOD for the first half hour and then started with the live music.  The crowd was a little quiet at first but then as the beach music started to flow, the dance floor was packed.  This was a crowd from the Mt Pleasant area and they wanted all the beach we could play.  This worked out well because they dance for most of the night.  As the evening went on we changed gears a little for some of the younger crowd and it party ended with a Shout!  Literally the whole crowd singing to the bride and groom.  What a great way to end 2012!  Happy New Year to all!

Wedding at the Creek

Gretas wedding

One of the last wedding of the year was for a long time family friend of the band at our old stomping grounds, the Trawler (today it is known as the Lighthouse on the Creek).  The Hewitt family has been friends of the band since the start and it was great to get together to celebrate their daughter’s wedding.  The band has played at the Lighthouse many times in the past and while there is a stage on site, the bride had us set up in another area of the room and had the bride and groom’s table on the stage area.

Gretas wedding 2

This works out well because even though they extended the stage it is still a little small for PV.  The bride and groom danced their first dance to I’m Yours by Jason Mraz played live by PV while the other 2 dances were done on the IPOD.  After the dances the floor was open and many people jumped at the opportunity to dance.  Although it was a good crowd it was nothing compared to what we were in for on the dance floor.  By the third set the whole area was packed and the bride and groom and whole party was getting down!  What a great time with some old and new friends.  The bride and groom departed on a boat at Shem Creek and sailed off into the night as newlyweds!  Congrats again!

Something Fishy!

morgan wedding 1

PV played a wedding this past weekend at the SC Aquarium.  We have played here many times in the past but it has been a while so it was nice to be back.  The bride and groom had a cocktail hour upstairs while the band playing live downstairs which works at the aquarium because the second floor overlooks the first.  The guests were invited downstairs in preparation for the announcement of the wedding party and our guests of honor.  The wedding party was announced and the bride and groom entered down the main escalator.  What a grand entrance!  There will be plenty of wonderful pictures as well as the bride and groom hired Richard Bell photography to capure the moments (www.charlestonwedding.com)

morgan wedding 2

They went straight to the dance floor for their first dance which was What a Wonderful World by Louie Armstrong played live by PV.  The father daughter danced followed to My Girl by the Temptations played live by PV and then the groom danced with his mother to How Sweet It Is by James Taylor played live by PV.  The father of the bride gave a welcome speech and then the guests were invited to dig in to the food stations.  Hambys (www.hambycatering.com) was the caterer for the night and their food is always great!  After eating the guests brought their full bellies to the dance floor for the second set.  After that set the guests were invited for the cake cutting and the toasts and from that point on it was time to dance.  The floor was packed and the bride and groom got it all started right at the beginning of the set.  They danced til the end of the night and exited as newlyweds with a bubble departure from the Aquarium!  Congrats to the bride and groom and thank you for having us play for your big day!

Horns again at Pepper Plantation Wedding

pepper plantation full band lights 2

PV played our third show in a row for this weekend and the second one in a row with a guest horn player!  Thank you to Keith Namm for playing the sax with us at this wedding!  This event was out at Pepper Plantation (www.pepperplantation.net) out in Awendaw, SC.  It is a great place for a wedding, especially this time of the year.  The ceremony was off site so the bride and groom started off with a cocktail hour for their guests while we waited on the guests of honor.  The band started once the guest arrived and it was easy to tell when the bride and groom arrived on site.  The groom is a police officer so they had a police escort to the venue!  We announced the bride and groom and they went right into their first dance which was With This Ring by the Platters played live by PV.

pepper plantation full band early

The father daughter dance followed and they danced to My Girl by The Temptations played live by PV.  The groom danced with his mother to Stand By Me by Ben E King played live by PV.  The dances were captured well by Olive Productions (www.olivecharleston.com) and they even had a photo booth to catch ever more great moments throughout the night!  After the first dances the band took a break as the food was ready from Cafe Catering (www.charlestonscafe.com/catering/home.aspx).

pepper plantation jump

Not only did they have great food but Melissa with Cafe Catering helped with the planning to make sure that everything was on time and perfect.   The second set was full of dancing and the crowd really let it all out.  It was a wonderful night and the bride and groom looked really happy together.  Thanks for having us at the reception and we wish you both the best!

Downtown again this weekend!

image (1)

PV played a wedding this past weekend at the William Aiken House, downtown Charleston.  This is a great location because you can get everything done on site.  They had the ceremony, cocktail hour, sit down dinner and then a rocking dance party with PV all in one location.  It was a fun filled day!  The band was set up and ready early but did not actually play our first note until around 7:45 for the first dances.  The bride and groom actually hired the 8 piece band for this show with 2 horns!  BIG THANKS to Mark Black and Jason Moore for playing the show with us.  It is always fun to play with such great musicians and just good friends too!

image

The first dance song for the evening was Cant Help Falling in Love by Elvis played live by PV but sang by the groom little sister!  What a wonderful voice and a great way to kick off the dancing.  The bride and her father followed with a dance to How Sweet It Is by James Taylor played live by PV and last but not least was the groom and his mother dancing to Stand By Me by Ben E King played live by PV.  Needless to say, those 2 songs were a perfect way to start of the horn section as well.  Great stuff!  The band played 2 sets that night and the crowd packed the dance floor the whole night. The evening was elegantly planned by Luke Wilson from WED (www.charlestonevent.com).  If you want to make sure your wedding runs smooth and looks perfect, please give him a call!  The last song of the night packed the dance floor once again and they bride and groom left us from the front gate as the guest tossed lavender.  Thanks for having us at the event…Congrats Mr and Mrs Klotzbach!

Thanks for coming out!

wild wing

PV played this past Friday at the Wild Wing Cafe and we want to thank everyone who came out to the show.  Wild Wing is trying a new thing with the music and are starting to stream live from site.  They had PV streaming live from 11-1 and they should have some pictures and video on their site www.latenitemusictv.com.  As a matter of fact they already have a small clip on Facebook so check it out!  Hope to see you all in a few weeks for the show after the Christmas parade!

Historic Hibernian Hall Wedding

photo

PV played a wedding this past weekend at Hibernian Hall downtown Charleston (www.millshouse.com/meetings/hibernian.html).  This location was built in 1840 and was used as a meeting space for the Hibernian Society which still uses the hall to this day.  It is a great room for a reception and has a large 600 sqft stage.  You can book the room through the Mills House which is next door and then if you hire them for the reception then you get the benefit of them helping with the planning.  Jayne is the coordinator for the Mills House and she is great!  The bride and groom used the hall to its maximum potential having a cocktail hour in the rotunda area on the first floor.  After the cocktail hour the guests moved into the main ballroom and got ready for the announcementof the bride and groom.  We announced them into the reception and they moved right into their first dance which was played on the IPOD.  The father daughter dance was Just The Way You Are by Billy Joel played live by PV.  The groom and his mother followed that dance up with their dance to What a Wonderful World by Louie Armstrong played live by PV.  After those dances the mother of the bride gave a welcome and they started the sit down dinner.  The band played during dinner and was able to keep the volume at a good level for the guests to enjoy the music and dinner.  A big thank you goes out to our sound man Kevin Saunders who makes that all possible!  After dinner and the first set we actually had a guest singer/musician come onto the stage and play a few songs for the bride and groom.  It was the brides cousin and she had written a song personally for the couple!  After they were done a family friend came up and sang a love song in Russian for the bride and groom.  The cake cutting followed and then a rocking set from PV to end the night.  The bride and groom hired the right band for their taste because we played everything from the Grateful Dead, Sublime, Otis Day and the Nights, Black Eyed Peas to Bob Marley.  Great stuff and it was a blast!  Congrats to the bride and groom!

Fun at the CYC

IMAG0383

PV played a wedding this weekend at the Carolina Yacht Club.  We have played here many times in the past but it has been a while so we were excited to play there this weekend.  We played the ballroom on the second floor and it has a great view of the Charleston harbor from the balcony area.  The bride and groom got married off site and the guests arrived to the CYC around 5:30 for the cocktail hour.  We played IPOD music as we waited on our guests of honor and the guests got to mingle as they filed into the club.  At about 6:30 we announced the bride and groom into the reception and they shared their first dance to Then by Brad Paisley played live by PV.  That was the only dance for the evening and the party kicked off right after that dance.  We had to start with Dock of the Bay by Otis Redding because we were literally a stone throw from the dock at the yacht club.  Our first dancer was a year and half and she was ready to rock.  The rest of the guests were soon to follow and stayed parked on the dance floor the whole night!

The evening will be remembered thanks for the wonderful pictures from Patrick Hall (www.patrickhallphotography.com).  They always do a great job and even had a photo booth out on the balcony!  I am sure those pictures are great!  The third set was killer and the dance floor was packed the whole time.  The last song was Shout by request and the crowd really got left all their energy on the dance floor.  The bride and groom left with a traditional rose petal departure from the front of the club.  Congrats to Mr. and Mrs. Toole!  Thanks for making us a part of your wonderful reception!

A Family Affair

katies wedding pic

PV played a family wedding this past weekend as Michael’s little sister got married out at Patriots Point (www.patriotspointlinks.com/weddings).  Lacy Davidson is in charge of the venue and the catering and is wonderful to work with for planning your big day.  This is another site in the Charleston area where you can have the ceremony and reception on site.  The rain on Saturday caused us to move the ceremony under the tented area but it all worked out in the end.  The ceremony was beautiful and captured well by our friend and excellent photographers, Rod and Tara with Red Shutter Studios (www.redshutterstudio.com). After the ceremony was over the bride, groom and rest of the wedding party hung around for pictures before moving into the tent for the reception.  The whole wedding party entered at the same time to Gangnum Style played on the IPOD (awesome!) and then we announced the guests of honor into the reception for their first dance.  PV learned Everything by Michael Buble for the bride and groom which went over well.  The father of the bride gave a welcome after the first dance and then shared a dance with his daughter to Just the Way You Are by Billy Joel played live by PV.  Following that dance the groom invited his mom to the dance floor where they shared a dance to Stand By Me by Ben E King played live by PV.  The food stations open after the dances as well as the dance floor.  The first song got people on the floor and it was really packed for the rest of the evening.  The bride and grooms did the toasts at the rehearsal dinner so the only real event to happen during the breaks was the cake cutting.  They choose not to do a bouquet or garter toss and it was a good thing because with all the dancing we would have probably forgot!  HaHa!  The crowd sang and danced the whole night and we closed the night with SHOUT!  Needless to say the crowd dancing and singing til the last note.  The bride and groom left in a golf cart while the guests lined up with glow sticks!  It was a great night and we are so happy for Mr and Mrs Kjergaard!

Francis Marion Wedding

wpid7672-ryffel-0783

PV played a wedding this past weekend at the Francis Marion, Colonial Ballroom.  The groom was actually injured in a car accident the night before the wedding so he was unable to attend the reception.  The family decided to move on with the party hoping to raise the spiritsof the bride.  I think from the above picture you can tell that the bride had a great time.  All of the nights event were captured wonderfully by the great photographers of Richard Bell Photography (www.charlestonwedding.com).  We had Mell Bell and Wanda on site which are always fun to work with for weddings!  We kicked off the event with the bride dancing with her father and then a welcome from the father of the bride.

jump jump

The band started right after the welcome and the food stations opened as well.   Even though the food was ready, the guests did not waste any time jumping on the dance floor.  It was packed from the first song til the last song!  What a great crowd.  Everyone danced with the bride, almost fighting for her hand.  We ended the night with a rousing version of SHOUT and the crowd went nuts…hence the above picture which was taken at the end of the night during the last song.  It was a great night and our thoughts and prayers are with the bride, groom and their families.

Same Place, New Location

IMAG0321

PV played a wedding at Magnolia Plantation (www.magnoliaplantation.com/events) this past weekend.  We have played this site many times in the past, but have never played at this location on site.   They had the band set up under a tent behind the main house.  This was a first for us and was actually a great place to have the reception.  The only thing I did not like was that the food was one the porch of the main house which was about 50 yards from the tent.  It worked out OK as most of the guests grabbed their food and then headed back down to the tent for the music.  The bride and groom got married on site and then moved to the tented area for the cocktail hour.

IMAG0317The band just played house music during this time as the guests mingled waiting on our guests of honor.  The bride and groom finished up the photos and then headed our way for the first dances.  The first dance was played on CD and sung by one of the groomsmen.  The bride followed the dance up with one with her father and then the groom danced with his mom.  The bride also requested one more dance so that she could dance with her step-father as well.  The foods stations open and the band started after a welcome from the family.

IMAG0334The guests were a little slow to jump on the dance floor, but after the sun went down and the drinks were flowing, the people packed the floor to every song that we churnedout.  We even got some of the groomsmen involved with a little singing at the end of the night.  They were in a country cover band so they sang Family Tradition, Friends in Low Places and Wagon Wheel before we closed the night out with our hip hop medley.  The bride had Girls Just Wanna Have Fun on the IPOD as the last song and they left with a bubble departure in front of the main house.  It was a great evening and we are happy for the bride and groom.  Congrats!

Ion Creek Club to Close out September

09-29

The last wedding of the month was at Ion Creek Club (www.ioncreekclub.com) and was a great way to end a busy month.  We have played this location many times and I think a few times already this year alone!  It is a great place for a wedding and they can even host the ceremony as well on the lawn outside the main building.  The bride and groom were from Atlanta so this was somewhat of a destination wedding for the family and friends.  The weather cooperated and it turned out to be a wonderful evening.  The bride and groom has the ceremony on site and then moved to the porch area for the cocktail hour.

09-29 2Once the bride and groom were done with the photo they moved everyone into the room and kicked off the dancing with their first dances for the evening.  The food stations also opened after the dances and the guests dug into the great food provided by the creek club.  After a full belly the dancing kicked off and did not end til the last note by the band.  The bride and groom left that night with a sparkler departure.  Another great night at the Ion Creek Club!

Friendly Alhambra Wedding

ericoliviaproof-367-M

PV played a wedding for a friend of the band.  As a matter of fact, Michael’s little sister was the maid of honor in the wedding.  The ceremony was on site at Alhambra as well and we provided ceremony sound for the bride and groom as we are able to do for our client (www.charlestonweddingsound.com).  We had a mic for the officiant, played music on the IPOD and even had a wireless mic for the readers.  Everyone had no issues hearing the ceremony and from that point moved inside for a cocktail hour.

.facebook_1932185178The band started with the arrival of the first guests and took a very short break right before announcing the bride and groom.  They shared their first dance as a married couple and then both shared a dance with their parents as well.  This was the ice breaker for the dance floor and it was packed to the rest of the night with the band.  The food stations also opened that night and we were lucky enough to be working with a great caterer in Brick Lane Catering (www.bricklanecatering.com).  They always manage to have great presentation with the best tasting food in town!  If you are interested give them a call and ask for Christy Roper.  I promise she will treat you right!

ericoliviaproof-578-MThe band played half the night and then turned the band party into a DJ party!  The band packed up but also put on a different hat and began to DJ for the remainder of the evening.  This is a neat feature that PV has to offer their clients and allows the clients to get the best of both worlds.  Why just hire DJ or just a band when you can have BOTH!   We played some of the newest tunes and some special requests that we arranged for the bride and groom.  They danced til the last songs and left the reception with a sparkler departure.  Congrats to the bride and groom!  Thanks for making us a part of your big day!

Back a Wild Dunes just a few days later…

untitled

PV played the Trade Conference again this year for what I think is the 5th in a row.  This is a great event that has been held at Wild Dunes the past two years in a row.  We play out at the pavilion and this is the final event of the week for the guests.  Drinks, dinner and dancing to complete a wonderful conference.  The bands starts up while the guests enjoy drinks and dinner provided by Wild Dunes.

wild dunes trade conferenceThe food is always wonderful and one of the few times you will ever see steak at a station.  YUM! After eating the guests gather courage and move towards the band for some late night dancing.  We look forward to this event each year and thanks the folks with the trade conference for including us again.  Until next year…

Getting Wild in the Dunes

imagesCAOAT1KJ

PV played a wedding this past Saturday at the well known Wild Dunes Resort.  This was a military wedding and we always try to accommodate our military clients as they have done so much for us.  Thanks all of our past, current and future military clients!  The reception was in the main ballroom that was actually just built a few years ago.  This is a wonderful location to have a reception and the staff at Wild Dunes run by Samantha Hazard is always on top of their game.  This event was no exception.  The while night was flawless and the bride, groom and rest of the guests danced the night away until the departure.  What a great night and we once again say thank you and congrats to the bride and groom.

Second Stop, Stateboro, GA

IMAG0263

PV played the a wedding in Statesboro, GA this past weekend to finish up a road trip weekend!  This is not our first time in the Peach State but it was our first time in the Statesboro area.  This wedding out in the country and it was a beautiful location for a wedding.  The ceremony was on site as well we provided ceremony music on the IPOD as well as mics for the officiants.  This is one of the many things that PV can provide for you to help your whole wedding experience!  After the ceremony the guest moved over to the barn area and enjoyed a cocktail hour while the bride and groom finished up with pictures.  Once they were done the shared their first dance and the food was ready as soon as well.  It was a country pig pickin which was perfect for the setting.  After a night of good fun and good music, PV jumped back on the road and headed back to SC.  Congrats to the bride and groom and hopefully we will see the wonderful state of GA soon!

Road trip weekend, first stop DeBordieu

IMAG0260

We were back at a familiar location called the DeBordieu Club just slightly north of Georgetown, SC.  We have played a few weddings at this location but this is the first time that we have played outside under a tent.  The tent was right outside the main building in between the creek and 18th green.  What a beautiful spot!  Another first was the chance to work with a great wedding planner out of the Myrtle Beach area called Stunning and Brilliant Events.  Sara Barnhill owns the company and does a wonderful job with the planning and the decor as well.  The tent was phenomenal.

IMAG0259The bride and groom had their first dance after a cocktail hour and everyone found their seats to dive into a wonderful dinner provided by the club.  After dinner the dancing shoes were on and they did not come off the whole night.  It is always a good sign when you have a white dance floor that looks black at the end of the event!  Haha!  Congrats to the bride and groom and a big thank you to Sara as well for a great event!

Road trip to a familar location

mill-exterior1

PV was in the upstate this past weekend at the Huguenot Loft in the Peace Center located in beautiful downtown Greenville, SC.  We have actually played this location a few times in Greenville and this wedding was even more familiar as a few of us went to CofC with the groom.  We always like to play weddings for people that we know and this was no exception.  The bride and groom got married at a church off site and then invited all their guests back to the Loft for a great reception.

huguenot_mill1Theguests arrived to a cocktail hour and were invited into the main room as soon as the bride and groom arrived for their first dances.  The dances were beautiful and served as a spark for the rest of the guests to dance the night away.  The dancing did not stop from that point on til the end of the night and I think carried over into the streets!  We wish the bride and groom the best and I know that we will see them again sometime soon.  Congrats!

Rocking the House, William Aiken that is!

.facebook_-1343753420

PV played a wedding this past weekend at the William Aiken House and it was a great show!  The bride and groom got married on site and the reception followed with cocktails and dinner stations.  The bride and groom shared their first dance and then everyone made their way to the house to eat.  After dinner the bride and her father danced a special dance to a sweet song, pun intended.  PV actually learned Sweet Child Of Mine by Guns and Roses for the bride and her father BUT it was a surprise set up by the mother of the bride.  We started playing a few lines of My Girl and then stopped and started the REAL song!

.facebook_2051967196Check out the picture showing the mother’s, father’s and bride’s reaction to the song!  It was AWESOME.  That set the tone for the rest of the night and it was fantastic.  They even had the King of Pop (not MJ, but almost as good) on site for some late night, refreshing sweet treats (www.charleston.kingofpops.net).  The evening was planned elegantly by Maddie with Ooh Events (www.shopoutofhand.com).  The bride and groom left that evening with a sparkler departure under the tents due to a little rain but that did not taking anything away from getting some good pics!  Thanks for a great evening and congrats to the bride and groom.

Burning Down the House! kind of…

ion burning

PV played a wedding at the Ion Creek Club this past weekend and it was a great wedding!  We did have something happen that has never happened in the past…a boat outside on the ramp caught fire and burned right before our very eyes.  The guests were starting to arrive right when it happened so needless to say, it caused for a interesting cocktail hour.  Three firetrucks were on the scene as well as about 3 police cars as well.  This was all before the bride and groom even arrived on site.  Can you imagine the concern of the bride and groom when they arrived on site to that scene.  Luckily, no one was hurt and that just helped to fuel the fire of the guests as well!  The bride and groom snapped a few pictures with the firetrucks and then came into the reception for their first dances.  Right after the dances the crowd took over and it was a dancing crowd from there on out.  What started as an interesting evening ended with hands in the air and people dancing the night away.  Thanks for a great and some firsts for PV.  That does not happen all the time!

Lookout Pavilion, here we come

band in the dark

This was the first time we have played at the Lookout Pavilion at the Charleston Harbor Resort.  We were lucky to pair up with some old friends, Emmy Brooks and Ashley Ruthsatz in regards to the planning.  Emmy used to have an outstanding wedding planning company called Peacock Events and they were back just for this wedding since it was a friend.  Olive Productions did the photography (www.olivecharleston.com) and they are always able to capture the best moments.  The bride and groom got married on the beach area at the resort and then made their way to Lookout Pavilion for the reception.

July wedding from the stage

They danced their first dance to She’s the One by Bruce Springsteen played on the IPOD.  They are from NY and huge Springsteen fans…but get this, the groom was a Mets fans and the bride was a Yankees fan!  Their love must be strong to create that house divided!  The rest of the night was excellent.  The bride and groom danced the whole night and the guests were packing the dance floor as well.  All of the guests were from out of town and they were glad they did not miss this wedding!  What a fun group and a great couple!  We wish you the best!

Cooper River Wedding!

cooper river room

PV played a wedding this past weekend at the Cooper River Room at the Mount Pleasant Waterfront Park (www.cooperriverroom).  We have actually in the room in the past but this wedding was outside under a tent outside the main building!  What a great place for a wedding with views of the bridge, the Cooper River and the marsh.  The evening was planned well by the girls at Sweetgrass Social and Event Design (www.sweetgrasssocial.com).  Another good thing is that they had The Connellys there to take the pictures for the evening (www.theconnelleys.com).  The bride and groom were WVU grads so the wedding party came out to the WVU fight songs and went right into their first dances which were all on the IPOD.  After the dances the stations opened and the band started the first set.  The dancers were a little hesitant in the begining but once the sun went down the dance floor was packed the whole night.  They chose to do the anniversary dance and the last couple standing was happily married for 55 years!  WOW, what great role models for the newlyweds!  The last song of the night was perfect…Country Roads!  All the family and friends circled around the bride and groom and sang the song as loud as they could!  What a great night at the Waterfront Park!

Uncle Sam Jam ROCKED!

pv094p19047038-3[1]

Thanks again for everyone that came out to the show.  It was a sellout and what a great, dancing crowd.  Big THANK YOU to Keith Namm for playing sax with us as well.  We hope to see even more familiar faces next year but you might have to get your tickets early so you don’t miss it.  The pictures were courtesy of Rod and Tara Pasibe with Red Shutter Studios (www.redshutterstudio.com).  They are great and we are lucky to call them friends!!!!!

Happy Anniversary Rod and Tara!!!!

.facebook_-269166471

PV played a 10 year anniversary party for our friends at Red Shutter Studios (www.redshutterstudio.com) at Founders Hall in Charlestowne Landing this past weekend.  We were honored to be a part of the event and it was a GREAT time.  One of the features of the night was by far Rod and Tara’s reenactment of the final dance scene from Dirty Dancing.  They did a phenomenal job and even got their daughter involved in the dance.  What a night and Thanks again to the happy couple for having PV at the party!!!!!

Old Wide Awake Plantation Wedding

IMAG0089

PV visited an old friend in Wide Awake Plantation this weekend for a wedding.  We played a few times when the house was on the river a little further back on the plantation.  The owners sold the land on the river and moved the house back about half a mile to another beautiful piece of land.  We have held a few events of our own at this location and were excited to play our first wedding here this past weekend.  The bride and groom had a beautiful set up with the ceremony facing the water and a large tent beside the home.  The band set up on a stage under the tent with a dance floor, a great set up for a party!  The bride and groom were announced into the tent where they danced their first dance to With This Ring by the Platters played live by PV.  They were big beach and shag fans!  The next dance was in honor of her father who passed away a few years back.  Her and her brother shared a dance to My Girl by the Temptations played live by PV.  The groom also invited his mom up for a dance to a song by Sawyer Brown played on the IPOD.

IMAG0090This was the start of the dancing and not even the heat could keep the guests off the dance floor.  We played 2 sets and ended the night strong with I Gotta Feeling, Dynamite, Don’t Stop Believing and Shout!  Whew!  What a way to end the night.  The bride and groom left that might with a sparkler departure and we left extremely excited about another happy bride and groom!

Check out the Testimonials page to see what the Bride and Groom had to say about the band!

A Mount Pleasant Favorite

th

PV was playing one of Mt Pleasant’s most popular venues in Alhambra Hall.  It is a great place to get married and you can even have the ceremony on site under the oak tree right one the marsh.  This is exactly what the bride and groom did in this case as well.  Once the ceremony was done the guest came indoors for a cocktail hour and then the reception kicked off once we announced the bride and groom into the reception.  After their first dances the food was served and the dancing begun.  There was a special treat in store for the bride and groom…one of her father’s best friends is in a Rolling Stones cover band and we invited him up to sing Beast of Burden and Honky Tonk Women.  The crowd loved it so much that we played one more Stones tune for the group, Jumpin Jack Flash.  What a was to get the crowd up and going and ready for more.  They ended up hiring the band for overtime and we were happy to oblige.  The dance floor was PACKED!  What a great night and the bride and groom left that night with a sparkler departure!  Congrats to the bride and groom and thank you for having us as part of your big day!

The Island House twice in one month!

05-18-12

PV played a wedding once again at the Island House on John’s Island.  This is a beautiful place to get married so we were excited to be here again so soon.  The ceremony was on site at 6 and was only for the immediate family.  This was a great idea because it gave the wedding party time to get all the pictures and then have the guests arrive around 7.  This is also when the band started and announced the bride and groom into the reception.  They came out to the song You Make My Dream Come True by Hall and Oates and then slowed down to have their first dance to Someone Like You by Van Morrison played live by PV.  After that the father of the bride gave a toast and a blessing followed by the opening of the food stations.  PV played while the guests got their food, but this did not stop them from dancing.  The first song we played had dancers and we knew it was going to be a fun night.  The planning was done excellent by Sara Cavallon with Something to Celebrate (www.mysomethingtocelebrate.com).  She has a great deal of experience so if you are looking for a great planner then you are at the right site!  The cake cutting was done at the first break and that was the last scheduled event for the evening…which means, TIME TO DANCE.  The second set started with a bang as the guests must have been coming off a sugar buzz from the cake.  They danced the whole set and waiting eagerly for our final set during our short break.  The last set was full of dancing as well and the bride and groom were in the center of it all.  The last song, or what we thought was the last song, brought the real dancers out as we played I Gotta Feeling by the Black Eyed Peas and Dynamite by Taio Cruz.  We ended up doing one more before the bride and groom left by the house with a sparkler departure.  What a great night and we wish the bride and groom the best!

Back home at the Creek Club in Ion

City Lights pic 1

PV finished up the weekend close to home at the Creek Club in Ion.  This is a great place to get married…as a matter of fact, we played my sister’s wedding at this same location in 2010 (www.ioncreekclub.com).  It is a nice area because you can use the outdoor space to have a great ceremony as well.  It is right on the water so you get some great pictures!  Speaking of great pictures, Anna with City Light Studio was on site taking some great ones and the pics on this post are hers!  Check her out at www.citylightcharleston.com.   The bride and groom took advantage of this feature as well.  They had a guitar player on the porch for the ceremony music and the band was setting up inside for the reception.  After a cocktail hour the bride and groom moved into the club for their introductions and first dances.  This was one of the best intros for the weddings parties that we have seen in a LONG time.  They each had a routine with props and it really brought the house down early in the evening setting up what would be a great night.  The bride and groom danced their first dance to Tim McGraws My Best Friend and the bride followed with a dance for her father and step-father.  The groom escorted his mom onto the dance floor as well for a dance on Mothers Day.

City Lights picAfter the dacnes PV started with the live music and the food stations opened as well.  Some guests danced and some enjoyed the food and towards the end of the set they were all dancing.  We took a break and then came back on with a set full of beach music.  The crowd loved it but some of the younger guests were asking for some hip-hop.  The bride knew this would be the case so she had some of her favorites on the IPOD and while we took our second break we kept the dancers on the floor with some “booty” music.  The dance floor stayed packed for the rest of the night.  We started off with our hip hop medley and they LOVED it.  The last song of the night was Shout and the crowd lifted the bride and groom high above thier heads in celebration.  The left with a boat departure off the main dock as the guest waived sparklers.  Another great party and a great way to close out Mothers Day weekend.  Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mothers out there as well!  We love you!

Beaufort Bound Once Again

Farrior Wedding (1)

PV was back in Beaufort for another wedding this past weekend.  This was at a local home in the area right on the water!  What beautiful pictures.  The wedding planner was Ashley Rhodes (www.ashleyrhodesevents.com) and this was the second time we have been lucky enough to work with her in the past two weeks.  The ceremony and reception was on site so we were there early to make sure that we had everything up and running before the ceremony started.  As a matter of fact, we provided ceremony sound for the couple as well.  We are able to set up a separate sound system and mic the officiant and even the groom to ensure that all the guests are able to hear the outdoor ceremony.  Check it out at www.charlestonceremonysound.com.  Once the ceremony was over we played IPOD music over the speakers and the guests mingled and enjoyed a cocktail hour.

Farrior WeddingOnce the photos were done the bride and groom moved to the tent for their first dances.  They choose You Are the Best Thing by Ray LaMontagne played live by PV.  The father daughter dance was Be Young Be Foolish by the Tams played live by PV followed with Carolina Girls by the Catalinas played live by PV.  After those dances the food stations opened and so did the dance floor.  It took the guest a little while to warm up, but once the dancing shoes were on they did not come off.  The last song, or what we thought was the last song, had the groom on his back in the middle of the dance floor.  The crowd loved his moves so much that they asked us to play an extra hour at the end of the night.  A little overtime was good by us and we kept rocking for another hour!  What a fantastic night and at the end we were all feeling great.  Another great trip to the Beaufort area and we look forward to our next visit!  What a great place to play a wedding!

Check out the “Testimonials” page to see what the bride and groom had to say about the band!

An Island House Wedding

IMAG0598

PV played a wedding this past weekend at the Island House (www.islandhouseevents.com) on John’s Island.  This is a beautiful location for a wedding and this was no exception.  A cool breeze off the Intercoastal waterway keep the temp and bugs in check!  The bride and groom got married on site as well so this was a one stop shop for a great wedding.  Three Little Birds cafe and catering (www.threelittlebirdscafe.com) was great and all the guest seemed excited about the food the whole night!   This is always good for us because good food means full bellies which means DANCING!  The bride and groom announced the whole wedding party all supporting neon sunglasses asthe song Sunglasses at Night playing on the IPOD in the background.  The bride and groom danced their first dance as a married couple to Whatever It Is by Zac Brown played live by PV.  After the dance the food stations opened and the band continued to play.  A short time after the toasts were done by the best man and matrons of honor.  The band played a few more songs and then took a break for the cake cutting.

IMAG0606After the cake cutting the band started back up with an Anniversary Dance.  This is where you get all the married couples on the dance floor and slowly ask those to leave that have only been married 1 year, 2 years, 5 years and so on.  The last remaining couple had been married for 44 years and the bride gave her bouquet to them as a gift.  That was the last scheduled event for the reception and the dancing started immediately!  The crowd packed the floor for the remainder of the night, including a ONE MORE SONG, ONE MORE SONG chant at the end of the night…which we agreed to and rocked Don’t Stop Believingas the last song of the night.  The bride and groom left that night in a limo but no official departure.  What a great night and congrats to the newlyweds.

Roadtrip Destination number 2, Prescott Plantation

prescott plantation

The second stop of the Roadtrip Weekend was to Sheldon, SC which is just off of I-95 near Walterboro.  This was for a wedding on a private hunting plantation right in the middle of the forest.  It made for a great location for a reception.  The bride and groom got married at the historic Sheldon Church Ruins which was originally know as Price Williams Parish Church.  It was built by the French around 1745 and was burnt by the British during the Revolutionary War in 1779.  It was a great scenic backdrop for a wonderful ceremony.  The plantation is only a couple of miles from the ruins and the guests started to gather shortly after its conclusion.  The plantation was ready due to the excellent planning done by Ashley Rhodes Events (www.ashleyrhodesevents.com).  As the guests started to arrive the band started as well with some lighter music awaiting our guests of honor.  Taking a short break, the band was back on to announce the wedding party and invite the bride and groom to the dance floor for their first dance as a married couple.  After the first dances the food stations opened and the guest dug in for a great southern meal.  After the food and the cutting of the cake, the guests had plenty of energy for dancing.  The rest of the night the dance floor was packed all the way up until the last song of the night.  The bride and groom escaped with a sparkler departure and we were off headed back to Charleston!  What a weekend!

Road trip weekend starts in Camden, SC

member-banner

PV played a rehearsal dinner in Camden, SC at Springdale Hall to kick off a road trip weekend with 2 out of town shows.  Springdale Hall is located right on Camden Country Club overlooking the historic golf course.  If you have never been to Camden it is really a nice, historic South Carolina city.  The rehearsal was just as elegant as the city and the guests had a great time dancing the night away.  The bride and groom did the toasts that night and we provided them with our wireless mics to help make sure everyone heard the kind words.  After the toasts some of the guests ate, some danced and some enjoyed the beautiful outdoor area at Springdale Hall.  Overall, it was a great night and the bride and groom looked excited and ready for their big day the following night.

Celebrating at the William Aiken House

William Aiken House - april 2012

It was Easter weekend so we actually had a wedding on a Friday this past weekend.  The event was at the William Aiken House and was planned perfectly by Lizz at Southern Protocol (www.southernprotocol.com).  The bride and groom at the cerebration in the garden area of the William Aiken House and it was a great scene (see the attached pic).  Black and white dance floor with beautiful draping and fantastic floral on each table.   Good thing they hired Jennifer Bearden and her crew (www.jenniferbearden.com) because they are always on point and will make sure to get the whole night on the camera.  The band started with some light music as the guest started to arrive on site enjoying horderves and drinks.  The bride and groom we announced and then followed with a welcome from the father of the bride.  After the welcome, they opened up the stations inside the home and the band took a break while the guests had dinner.  After the dinner they had the cake cutting and then moved into the first dances.  The bride and groom danced to a Jason Mraz song on the IPOD while the father of the bride picked The Way You Look Tonight by Frank Sinatra played live by PV and the groom picked Stand By Me by Ben E King played live by PV.  After those dances the floor was open and packed for the rest of the night.  We played one long 2 hour set and the crowd was dancing the whole time.  They were not ready to leave at the end of the night but the bride and groom had to be sent off with a sparkler departure so the party came to an end.  Another great night with a great crowd!

Mills House Downtown

03-31-12

PV played a military wedding this past weekend for a groom who is a Leutenant in the US Navy.  The wedding was in the Barbados Room at the Mills House Hotel, downtown Charleston.  Jayne and her staff and great and really work hard to make it a perfect event for their couples.  The bride and groom were married at the Summeral Chapel and then head to the Mills House for the reception.  The guests were welcomed with a cocktail while they waited for the guests of honor.  As soon as the bride and groom arrived they went into their first dance which was Someone Like You by Van Morrison played by PV live.  The father stole the next dance with his daughter and picked a perfect song, The Way You Look Tonight by Frank Sinatra playing live by PV.  The groom escorted his mother onto the dance floor after that dance and danced to Dock of the Bay by Otis Redding played live by PV.  After their dances they went ahead and did the toasts for the evening so that they could concentrate on dancing for the rest of the evening.  The dance floor was open and the guest took advantage of it, even before grabbing a bite to eat.  I could tell this was going to be a great crowd!  The bride and groom frequented the dance floor all night which brought the guests to their feet each time!  The last song ended the night with the groom on the ground with his feet in the air!  What a great night!  THANK YOU to the groom for his service to our country!

Beaufort Bound to Party Down

03-24-12 (1)

PV was on the road this weekend for a wedding at the River Club at Coosaw Point.  This was the first time we have ever played at this location and what a beautiful place for a reception.  The weather was great for the reception, but on the way down we ran into some of the worst storms I have seen in a while.  Rain and hail with a visibility of about 20 yards at one point.  It was hard to see the cars right in front of you!  BUT, the sun came out and it ended up being on of the best days in a long time.  The River Club is a beautiful 3 story clubhouse right on the Coosaw River.  The party was on the main floor which was actually the 2nd floor.  The guests were greeted with a nice size bar where you grabbed a drink and then moved into the main ballroom.  The room was a tight squeeze and the bride was originally worried that we might be a little loud.  The good news about PV is that we have no on stage monitors since we use in ear monitors to hear ourselves.  This really helps when you need to keep the volume down.  Our drummer Brian did a great job keep the drums on time but at a great volume as well.  Once the guests poured into the room they actually helped with the sound but we got a total of ZERO complaints that night about the noise level.  Big thanks to our great sound man Kevin as well.  He showed off for this show!

03-24-12The bride and groom were announced into the main ballroom and all three of the first dances were on the IPOD.  You are the Best Thing for the Bride and Groom, Unforgettable for the Father and his daughter and then Uptown Girl for the groom and his mom.  The last song was a surprise for the grooms mother and she loved it.  They moved right into the cake cutting and then it was time to dance!  The crowd was into the music from the first song til the last.  What a fun group!  All ages danced to all the beach and party tunes and when we changed gears to the rock and funk not a person left the dance floor.  It was packed all the way up until the last song.  The bride and groom left that night with a sparkler departure and it was a night to remember!

Speaking of Wild!

grand-pavilion

PV played a 60th birthday party this past weekend at Wild Dunes!  What a great event!  There were about 66 people at the party and they seemed to all be ready to dance.  The birthday boy actually lived in Charleston for a while and was a bog beach music fan.  PV played all the beach favorites like Miss Grace, Carolina Girls, Be Young Be Foolish, Myrtle Beach Days (even though we were on Isle of Palms) just to name a few.  It was a great group and a really fun kickoff to St Patty’s Day.  It was our first day event of the year and what beautiful weather with the beach in the background…cant ask for much more than that!  Thanks to our friend Doug Harrison who recommended us for the show!  Check out what the client had to say about the event:

“We wanted to thank you for the great music.  Everyone is still talking about “the band” and all the songs.  We even debated which songs were the best or our favorites.  Of course my favorite was SuperFreak!  I know that your music made the party.  Thanks a million!  We will always remember the party and that all had a great time.”  Benny Berdick

Getting Wild at the Wing!

wild wing 03-09-12

The band played one of the few public gigs this past weekend at the Wild Wing Cafe in Mt Pleasant.  It was great to see so many familar faces from past, present and even future wedding clients!  Always great to see all the friends and family as well which always make the wing really fun for us as well.  We not there again until May so check the website and we will keep you posted.  Thanks again!

Blasting off the season!

belle hall blast - lighthouse

PV played the Belle Hall Blast this past weekend at the Lighthouse on Shem Creek.  We missed this event last year as the dates did not work out so we were glad to be a part of it again this year!  This was the start of a long streak of gigs for the band and what a way to kick it off.  They have a silent auction and a live auction for this event and both did well for the school featuring great items donated from all kinds of local Charleston vendors.  The band started around 7:00 and played a long set til 8:45 when the silent auction ended.  The live auction started right after a raffle and went on until about 9:30.  That is when the dancing started and the band really got kicking.  The last half of the second set was packed with dancers and even a few guest dancers on stage.  What a great night and we were glad to see everyone coming out to help the school.   Stay tuned for some video footage from the event as we had Shawn with Lowcountry Lens filming the band (www.lclens.com).

MUSC Charity Ball, 2012

IMAG0431

What a great event!  This was the 6th year in a row that MUSC has invited us to play this event and it gets better each year.  Here is a list of this year’s wonderful charities: Crisis Ministries, The Community Center at St Matthews Church, Helping and Lending Outreach Support, Lutheran Hospice Lowcountry, Sea Island Habitatfor Humanity, MUSC Student Initiatives and Fight for Sight.  The event started at 7 Saturday evening with house music over the speakers as the guests arrived to the auditorium.  They always have LARGE silent auction that is the main way to donate and win some fantastic items.  Some of the many categories were sporting goods, jewelry, restaurants, getaways, home goods, apparel and art.  At 8:00 the emcee welcomed the group and introduce the band and the live music began for the evening.  The band played one set and took a break around 9:20 in preparation for the first table to close at 9:30.  After a few requests on the IPOD and counting down the second table, PV was back on and ready to party.  The crowd jumped on the dance floor and did not leave us until the last song.  We ended with our hip hop medley and a great version of Shout.  Thanks again to all the people who worked so hard on this event!  We cant wait to play again for you next year!

First Wedding of 2012!

01-07-12 (3)

And what a great way to start out the New Year!  We played a wedding at the Country Club of Charleston this past weekend and it was a great event to kick off 2012!  The bride and groom got married off site and then came to the CC for the reception.  Around 830 we announced the bride and groom to around 300 guests waiting the new couple.  They moved into the first dance which was You Are The Best Thing by Ray Lamontagne played live by PV.  The proud father got the next dance with his daughter and he picked Darius Rucker’s song It Wont Be Like This For Long for the dance.  The groom followed that dance with his mother as they danced to Forever Young by Rod Stewart played live by PV.  After their dances the dance floor was open and the guests started showing off their skills as well.  The band only took one break and during that break was a welcome from the father of the bride and the cake cutting.  After eating some cake the guests rode a sugar buzz straight to the dance floor for the rest of the night.  As a matter of fact, if it was not for the photographer, Courtney Dox (www.courtneydoxphotography.com) we would have forgotten all about the bouquet and garter toss.  Courtney always does a great job making sure that the bride and groom get all the shots they want from the big day!  The bride and groom finished the night with Sign Sealed Delivered and left the building with a sparkler departure!  If this is any indication of the new year, then it is going to be a great one!

01-07-12 (1)Comment from the Father of the Bride:

“You guys were truly phenomenal!  No one wanted the night to end as you guys had the party going (even us old guys who tried to keep “gatoring” alive).  I look forward to our next opportunity to enjoy PV.  Thank you so much for making LaBruce and Harrison’s wedding so special.”

Comment from the Bride:

“THANK Y’ALL!  It was an absolutely perfect weekend and y’all just added to the excitement of it all! Harrison and I could not have imagined a more fun, enthusiastic band for our wedding reception.  Thank you for everything you all did to make it easy and so much fun for all of us (and our guests who had a blast)!”

Final Wedding/Event of 2011!

IMAG0230

PV played our last event for 2011 and it was a wedding at the Carolina Ballroom in the Francis Marion Hotel (www.francismarionhotel.com/weddings).  What a great location to end the year…as a matter of fact, one of our first gigs in 2011 was in this same ballroom.  The bride and groom hadthe ceremony off site and then made their way to the hotel.  There was a cocktail hour outside of the main ballroom with an outdoor area overlooking the park decorate for the holidays.  After the cocktail hour the guests were invited into the ballroom for the announcement of the wedding party.  The bride and groom entered to a resounding applause and went into the first dance, a Better Than Ezra song on the IPOD.  As a matter of fact, all the dances were on the IPOD this time around.  The father daughter dance followed with What a Wonderful World and then the mother groom dance to I Could Not Ask For More by Edwin McCain.  After that the band started and played through dinner.  You can always tell it is going to be a good crowd when they dance during dinner.  The first break of the band allowed for the toasts and cake cutting.  After those events the guests were ready to dance.  We played a second set with most beach music that brought out the shaggers and dancers alike.  After one more SHORT break we were back on with a variety of rock, 80’s, country and hip hop.  We played everything from Sublime to Black Eyed Peas to Zac Brown Band.  What a great night!  The final song was Don’t Stop Believing and the crowd went down singing!  Congrats to the bride and groom and congrats to the band for a GREAT 2011!!!!

Holiday party with the Beach Company

IMAG0228

PV played a holiday party  for the Beach Company at the Cooper River Room at the Mt Pleasant Pier (www.cooperriverroom.com).  This was the first time that we have played this venue and it turned out great.   The weather was perfect so they were able to open all the doors to the outdoor area and the band was rocking on a stage inside the room.  They did door prizes at the break and we sang Happy Birthday as well to one of their founders.  After that the dance floor was full til the end of the night.  One more gig for the year and then we say goodbye to 2011.  Happy holidays to all!

Georgetown Debutantes!

IMAG0214

PV played a debutante party this past weekend at the Winyah Indigo Society Hall in Georgetown, SC.  It was our first debutante party in a while and we had two guest musicians with us for the evening.  David and Brian were both attending a friend’s wedding in Charleston so Mark Stanley filled in on guitar and John Tankersley filled in on drums.  Mark Stanley is a great player out of Conway, SC who was gracious enough to join us for the evening.  What a treat!  John plays with the popular Charleston band Fowler’s Mustache (www.fowlersmustache.com) and took the night off from the thirsty bunch to come play with PV.

IMAG0216The evening kicked off with the Grand March and then moved into the introduction of the debutantes.  After they were introduced the band played one song and then everyone went downstairs to have a drink preparing for the party which started at 10.   PV kicked it off at 10 and went straight til 12 with the crowd dancing the whole night.  We were able to play everything from the Temptations, oldies, beach music, funk to the Black Eyed Peas and the crowd danced to each song!  We ended the night with SHOUT and then we are on our way back to Charleston.  Thanks again to Mark and John and to Georgetown for hosting the PV invasion.

Lowndes Grove wedding with a guest!

05_RickDeanPhotography

PV played a wedding this past weekend out at beautiful Lowndes Grove Plantation (www.pphgproperties.com) and it could not have been better weather for an outdoor wedding in November.  Only in Charleston can you have the 70’s in November.  The band has a guest appearance by our good friend Allan on the Sax for the event.  Alan plays with numerous bands in the area and is a great player.  The bride wanted to have a sax at the wedding and that is another thing that Permanent Vacation can make happen to make each wedding perfect for the client.  The ceremony was on site as well and set up by David Singleton of Eventsublime, as well as the rest of the evening.

07_RickDeanPhotographyThe photographers on site were Rick Dean and his crew of Rick Dean Photography (www.rickdeanphotography.com).  They were everywhere and captured all the shots throughout the night!  The bride and groom even hired a videographer as well for the big day.  Shawn Whittington with Lowcountry Lens (www.lclens.com) was shooting the whole evening so with the great pictures and video, no moment will go unforgotten!  After the ceremony the guest were invited to a cocktail hour in and around the beautiful house out at Lowndes Grove.  Once the bride and groom and the rest of the wedding party was done with the photos, the guests were invited into the tent where dinner was to be served shortly by the staff at Lowndes Grove and their full time in house catering done by Fish (www.fishrestaurantcharleston.com).

01_RickDeanPhotographyBefore dinner the bride and groom were announced and shared their first dance as a married couple to At Last by Etta James, played live by PV.  The guest went crazy with the song choice as the bride and groom were dating for a LONG time before the marriage.  After the dance the bride and groom sat down for dinner and the band kicked it off with some music.  Even though dinner was started that did not stop the guests from dancing.  They started out with just a few couples but by the end of the first set the whole dance floor was packed tight!

11-19-11 (2)The cake cutting and a few toasts were done during the first break and then the bride and her father kicked off the second set with their dance to My Girl by the Temptations played live by PV.  After that dance the floor stayed packed for the whole rest of the evening!  The bride and groom left that evening with a sparkler departure as a happily married couple.  Another great wedding in November…speaking of that…Happy Anniversary to my sister and her husband who celebrate their anniversary in November as well.  Happy 2 years!

Another trip to the Cotton Docks

permanentvacation_0001-2

I think we may be considered the house band for the Cotton Docks these days!  This is the 4th wedding this year for PV out at Boone Hall andthe Cotton Docks.  This was a wedding with Melonye Evans from Viola Events (www.voilaevents.com).  We actually played Melonye’s wedding as well so it was great to see her again and in action as a wedding planner.  The location was designed beautifully and they had a great photographer on site to ensure that no memories would go forgotten.  Heather Forsythe (www.heatherforsythe.com) always does a wonderful job with the photos.  The two photos above were actually taken by her in the middle of the dancing!  What a great job!  The bride and groom were married off site and then invited the guests to the main house out at Boone Hall for a cocktail hour.  After the cocktail hour the guests moved down to the Cotton Docks for dinner and dancing.  It was a little chilly that evening but with the doors closed, the heaters on, the fireplace burning andof course the dancing, things were heating up.  A friend of the bride and groom introduced the wedding party while Bruno Mar’s Marry You was playing on the IPOD.

permanentvacation_0001The bride andgroom danced their first dance to a special song that the groom picked out as a surprise for the first dance.  PV agreed to help with the surprise and learned the song to play live.  It was God Gave Me You by Blake Shelton andthe bride was overjoyed with the selection.  Smooth move by the groom!  The next dance was for the parents, bride and her father and the groom and his mother.  The picked Unforgettable by Nat King Cole and Natalie Cole on the IPOD.  Following their dances was a welcome by the father of the bride and a toast by the best man and maid of honor.  They planned a toast together and it was done really well.  Finally a blessing and the food stations opened as well as the dance floor.  The guests started dancing right off the rip and continued all night.  The bride andgroom spent the whole final set on the dance floor breaking it down with all their friends and family.  After getting a request for Don’t Stop Believing all night we finally pleased the crowd andplayed it along with Take Me Home Tonight as the last songs for the evening.  The bride andgroom left with flags waving in an old, classic Ford truck.  What a perfect way to leave the historical plantation.  Another great evening at the Cotton Docks.

Catapulting out to Magnolia Plantation

IMAG0111

PV played a corporate event this week out in the Carriage House at Magnolia Gardens for a wonderful company called Catapult Learning.  This is a great organization dedicating to helping kids K-12 who struggle with academics.  If you ever get a chance to support this organization or any similar ones we encourage you to do so.  The company was thanking their clients with a dinner and dancing while they were in town for a conference.  The event started out with a cocktail hour by the main house out at Magnolia and then moved to the carriage house for the dinner.  The menu was bacon wrapped filets with crab cakes, mashed potatoes and asparagus cooked perfect by Royal Grand Catering (www.royalgrandcharleston.com).  The music started out quiet as the guests enjoyed their dinner and then after a few speakers the band kicked it off and brought the crowd to the dance floor.  We kept them dancing the rest of the night and even had a guest singer come up to sing Mustang Sally and What I Like About You with the band.  The evening ended up perfectly and the buses took the guests back downtown for the night.  Thanks again to Jessica at Magnolia Plantation and Paula with Catapult Learning!

Historic Hibernian Hall Downtown Charleston

IMAG0107

PV played a wedding this past weekend at Hibernian Hall downtown Charleston right next to the Mills House.  This is a historic building built in 1840 as a meeting location for the Hibernian Society which is still in existence today.  The bride actually used to work at the hall and she was excited to have her big day at this great location.  The ceremony was on site in the ballroom on the main floor of the building.  A cocktail hour followed the ceremony on the main level as well.  The guests then moved up into the larger ballroom on the second floor for dinner and dancing.  The room has large stage that presents the band well and the large room always has good acoustics.  The bride and groom got the event started with their first dance as a married couple to Into the Mystic by Van Morrison played live by Permanent Vacation.  The bride danced with her father in law as well to Stand By Me by Ben E King played live by PV and her groom danced with his aunt to What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong played live by PV.  After their first dances the food stations opened and so did the dance floor.   Regal Catering (www.regalcatering.net)  did the food for the evening and it was a big hit with the guests.    The band took only one break that evening and ended the night with Sexual Healing and Shout.  It was a great evening for a wedding and we always enjoy playing at the Hibernian.

The Cotton Docks are Beautiful!!!!

IMAG0088

PV was back at the Cotton Docks out at Boone Hall for a beautiful October wedding.  The bride and groom used the space to their advantage and had the ceremony on the dock and then the reception to follow.  We were actually able to help and provide ceremony music out on the dock as well (www.charlestonweddingsound.com) including piano music and mics for the officiant.  After the ceremony was over the guest moved into the covered area for a cocktail hour while the wedding party finished up with the pictures.

IMAG0098The bride and groom and the rest of the wedding party were announced into the reception while the IPOD was playing I GOTTA FEELING over the speakers.  There first dance was a Clay Walker song on the IPOD and then the food station opened for the evening and PV started to play.  Once the crowd had a full belly of food they were ready to dance.  The floor was packed all night right up until the last song by the band.  The groom and some of the groomsmen even got in on the singing action.   The bride and groom capped the evening off with a sparkler departure.  What a great evening…we even had a client ready to book the band on site for her wedding.  That is always a good thing!
